A Broadway Legend Comes to Worcester

 

For Immediate Release -  September,  2016

Worcester -  Opening Night September 20, 2016 will feature Broadway great Patti Lupone, performing her newest show "Don't Monkey With Broadway".
Two-time Tony Award winner and two-time Grammy Award winner Patti LuPone will open 2016-2017 season on September 20th in Mechanics Hall in Worcester. 
Ms. LuPone originated and won the Best Actress Tony Award for her role in Andrew Lloyd Webbers' Evita, as well as Sondheim's Gypsy, and many other memorable roles on Broadway and in London, such as Anything Goes (Tony Nomination), Les Miserables (Lawrence Olivier Award), Oliver!, Sunset Boulevard (Lawrence Olivier Award nomination), the 2005 production of Sweeney Todd (Tony Award nomination), to name but a few.  Her career began at Julliard's Drama Division in the '70s and she went on to star in many plays, including many by David Mamet.
Patti LuPone's film credits include Witness, 1941, Wise Guys, Driving Miss Daisy, Summer of Sam, State and Main, and Heist.  A selection of television credits include Frasier, 30 Rock, Law & Order, Will and Grace, An Evening with Patti LuPone, and The Rise & Fall of the City of Mahogany (winner of Two Grammys, for Best Opera Recording and for Best Classical Album).
