On Wednesday, October 4, 2017, Music Worcester’s Opening Night will feature Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center (JLCO) at Mechanics Hall, which will kick off an incredible 2017-2018 Season. Wynton Marsalis is an internationally acclaimed musician, composer, bandleader, and educator. He is the world’s first jazz artist to perform and compose across the full jazz spectrum from his New Orleans roots to bebop to modern jazz. Jazz at Lincoln Center began as a summer jazz series in the 1980s and is now a fundamental jazz ensemble for performance and education based in New York City.
Music Worcester’s commitment towards bringing headliners to Central Massachusetts continues. With Patti LuPone and Joshua Bell having started off our 2016-2017 Season, it is only fitting to bring in someone of equal talent of another genre. We are seeking to create a select pool of donors to help provide sponsorship support for October 4, specifically due to the higher fee for this major headline artist compared to the usual fees Music Worcester provides for its large-scale events. With a $25,000 goal, this pool will help provide the necessary resources to market successfully an artist of this quality and renown around Central MA and beyond. All participating donors with sponsorship gifts of $1,000 or more will receive tickets to the concert.
Ticket Exchanges: Please note that we do not allow free ticket exchanges or credit transfers for non-subscriber ticket holders. Music Worcester season subscribers may contact us about ticket exchanges and we will do our best to accommodate an exchange at little to no charge to the subscriber. Non-subscribers may request a ticket exchange but will be required to pay an exchange fee along with a charge determined by the difference in price between the original ticket and the ticket to be exchanged for.
