Sneak Peek at a Worcester Chorus Rehearsal!

Anthony, our media intern from Worcester State, is creating a trailer for the upcoming Worcester Chorus performance of Bach's B-Minor Mass. Their conductor and artistic director, Chris Shepard, invited us to video this past Wednesday's rehearsal. Basically, I was just there to facilitate (big word for doing very little) while Anthony did all of the recording. As I am sure I have mentioned in a past blog somewhere, I really love the rehearsal process - as both a director and an audience member. I love to watch other directors in action and Chris was absolutely brilliant to watch. He took every moment and every subtle little bit of phrasing or sound and worked with the chorus to get exactly what he envisioned. One of the highlights for me was when he worked with all 100(ish) chorus members to sing "ding dong" to sound just like a bell. It took a couple tries, but completely and utterly amazing - they truly sounded like a single bell! A very large bell, perhaps, but a single bell nonetheless.
