Call for Entries
Music Worcester seeks highly talented student musicians aged 12-18 from the greater Worcester area to compete in its 2009 Young Artist Competition to be held on Tuesday, May 12th at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Applications must be postmarked by Friday, May 1, 2009
Applicants must perform a movement from a concerto or a work from the standard classical repertoire, 5-7 minutes in duration, on an orchestral instrument or piano. Students must provide their own accompanist if needed, and bring 3 copies of music for the judges.
Prizes
First Prize: Scholarship award and performance as soloist at the Music Guild's Spring Musicale in a Showcase for Young Artists at the Worcester Country Club in late May.
Additional prizes: Scholarship award and performance as soloist at Music Worcester's Annual Meeting (in the Fall) at the discretion of Music Worcester.
Scholarship awards range from $1,100 to $550.

Music Worcester recognizes the importance of showcasing young musicians in order to assure the present high standard of American music culture. Through its Young Artist Competition, Music Worcester seeks to encourage highly talented artists and provide the winners with scholarship awards and performance opportunities.
