Gustav Mahler’s “Resurrection” Symphony takes us on a profound journey from the shadows of a funeral march to a radiant affirmation of rebirth. After confronting the gravity of mortality and the chaos of the everyday world, the music finds a turning point in the “Primeval Light” (Urlicht), a moment of stillness for a lone voice. The monumental finale features shimmering off-stage brass and a whispering, ethereal chorus that grows into a triumphant celebration of eternal joy.
